It is, fully. There's no cost to join any Amsterdam People Club group, ever. We never sell your number, never flood the chat with promotions, and there's zero advertising inside the groups.

Can I join more than one group?

Definitely -- plenty of members belong to three or four groups. Commuting by bike every morning doesn't stop you from also chasing gallery openings on Saturdays and a rooftop table on Fridays. Cyclists, Canal & Culture, Party & Nightlife -- stack whichever ones match your week.

What's the group size? Won't it be spammy?

Every group is capped at 250 members and watched by a real moderator. Promo links, crypto pitches, anything off-topic -- gone, along with whoever posted it. Keeping the number small is what keeps the chat worth reading.

I'm only in Amsterdam for 5 days. Worth joining?

Tourists - 10 Days was built for exactly this. Message us and within hours you'll have a welcome-dinner spot, a canal-house apartment share-up if you want one, and a handful of locals sending you spots that never make it onto a map.

It's how this city actually runs -- bike rentals, dinner reservations, even the doctor's office. Worth installing if you're sticking around. If it's genuinely not possible for you, message us via the contact page instead and we'll sort something out.

Are these groups safe? Vetted?

Nobody slips in unseen. New members send a quick intro -- photo, first name, where they're from, which group -- and a moderator checks it before adding anyone. Report someone for scamming or harassment and they're out immediately. This runs on travellers looking after each other, not a company running a directory.

Who runs this?

Accepted Answer

A handful of people who've lived in Amsterdam a long time — residents and long-term travellers — who didn't like watching newcomers struggle alone. One WhatsApp group in 2021 turned into ten that we now look after. Nobody draws a salary from this; it's just something we care about.
